Yo, PB, we have to talk about the gifted classes, mind meeting me in the showers? His thumb hovered over the ‘send button’ for a moment, before tapping down. Smartphones were Atlas’s life source; a calendar, schedule, email, music, memo’s, to do lists… without them, he’d probably be lugging around a foot high stack of books and paper. Even now, as he was working his way to the back of the dorm hall to the showers, he didn’t lift his head from the glowing life source. His thumbs tapped wildly on the screen, whilst the phone buzzed against his hand. Tucked underneath his right arm was his pyjamas and shower bag. Finally, Atlas lifted his head from his phone, staring at the end of the hall; the end of the hallway had a full-length window, which gave a view of the darkening skyline and the campus. He turned to the left side of the hall, where there was an archway entrance to the showers.
Slipping off his shoes and throwing them next to the doorway, he walked towards one of the shower stalls. The floor was black polished sandstone; which had caused more than a few shower accidents over time. The walls were black and grey tiles; one side of the room was lined with stark white sinks with mahogany shelving underneath that was filled with towels. On the end of the room was an in-ground spa bath that looked like it could fit three or four people, and lining the other side of the room were shower stalls. He walked up to the stall closest to the end of the room and stepped into it, pulling his jumper over his head. The glass pane of the shower door was frosted, with a darker frosted pattern coming from the bottom; the walls between the shower stalls were tiled white, as well as the floor.
As soon as he pulled his jumper off, Atlas threw his clothes on the shelf area that was out of the showerhead’s range, then began to pull off the rest of his clothing. Whilst he was removing his clothing, he begun to hum… it was a Russian nursery rhyme. His mother used to sing it to him when he had woken up from nightmares. After a few seconds, he began to add words to the tune; Raz, dva, tri, chetyre, pjat'… Vyshel Zajchik poguljat'. It was about a bunny that had wandered outside, and got himself shot by a hunter… kind of a gruesome story for a children’s song. Two lines into the song, Andrei heard footsteps echoing from the hallway and his singing came to a halt. Most of the students were around the campus, so it would probably be one of the boarding masters or PB.

Paige sighed as he flicked through the music on his mp3. There wasn’t anything he was particularly interested in listening to. Giving up, Paige let out a sigh and pulled out his earphones, stuffing the object in his pocket. School had finished a few hours ago, and he was grateful for it; today was a particularly busy day for him, running around and collecting papers and forms, gathering information and such. He hadn’t seen Andrei all day, which he was partially relieved about. He really wasn’t in the mood to put up with the other prefect at the moment. Giving a loud yawn, Paige rolled to the side, burying his face into the pillow of his bed; It wasn’t particularly late but he was tired, and since there wasn’t really anything to do, he figured he could sleep.
Paige had closed his eyes for no more than 5 seconds before his chest began buzzing and the ringtone of his phone blasted through his room. The sudden noise caused Paige to jump up, giving a small shout. He pulled the phone from his pocket and opened the message alert. “Speak of the devil…” He groaned.
Andrei’s name was in thick black text jumping out of the screen of his phone, underneath was a message. “…mind meeting me in the showers” Paige mumbled to himself, “Why does he need to talk to me about the gifted classes, it’s not like I can do anything to help with them…” Giving a shrug Paige hopped off his bed and grabbed his black jacket hanging off the edge of his night stand, slipping it over the top of his white T-shirt. “And of all the places to meet, the Showers. Really Andrei?”
There didn’t appear to be anyone in the showers, well, all except one person. A shower at the end of the room was on, Paige could hear the water running and the glass door was fogged up. Paige tilted his head and slipped off his shoes before walking all the way into the room. He padded up to the stall and knocked lightly against the door, “Andrei, you in there? Its Paige.”

He didn’t have to be a mind reader to have known it was Paige; the kid was annoyingly punctuate. He could hear the other prefect walking towards the sound of running water, but his steps seemed less padded; the boy probably took his shoes off. Andrei had his eyes squeezed shut; not wanting to get the shampoo suds in his eyes. Finally, the suds washed out of his hair, and he reached for the (ridiculously expensive) body wash. ‘Andrei, you in there? It’s Paige.’ A voice rang out in the bathroom, slightly echoing. He was so tempted to reply with something sarcastic, like, no, I’m on the roof or no, but George Clooney is. Fortunately he bit back those intense teenage urges and cleared his throat a bit too loudly.
‘Come iiiin!’ his voice was jokingly high-pitched, he was attempting to impersonate the voice of a woman. Andrei never really was the joking type; but when it came to Paige he let himself go a little bit. There was just something about annoying the mundane that just tickled his fancy. Maybe it was the rich kid side coming out of him; that feeling of having a human puppet to do his will and make fun of. It was Paige’s fault in the first place for agreeing to perform every little task. Deep inside, Andrei knew he relied on the other prefect, for whatever it may be, companionship, and help with sorting out the school… whatever it may be, there was no way he was admitting it anytime soon.

It was a sort of instinct, he guessed, like just something he did when the words were called. The moment Andrei had called for him to come in, even though he knew that it was only a joke, he involuntarily swung his arm against the (carelessly unlocked) stall door. The glass door swung open, banging harshly against the wall behind. Before Paige realised what he had done he was staring face to face with the surprised prefect, completely bare under the running water. His eyes skimmed over the other boy for just a moment before his cheeks like up red and he grabbed the handle of the door, swinging it shut.
“Oh dear god! Andrie! I’m sorry!” Paige swung around and leaned back against the gap of this wall separating the stalls. “I did not mean to do that I swear!”
His hands were over his cheeks, trying to rub away the burning red glow. He shook his head, trying to get rid of the picture that was burnt into his mind. “Why did you not lock your door!? Scarred for life dude!”
He shivered and brushed the feeling of dirt from his arms. The burning of his cheeks dulled down as he heard the sound of the water cutting off. Paige turned around to face the wall away from the stall, he didn’t want any more accidents, or just Andrei walking out naked for the sheer fact to of just being a d ck.
“So why do you need to chat with me about the gifted classes?” Paige scrunched up his nose as he said ‘gifted classes’ He liked the gifted students, but at the same time felt a pang of jealousy and hate towards them, mainly due to his sister teasing him of being mundane while she flaunted her powers and made their parents proud during their childhood.

Andrei couldn’t help but swing around to face the door when he heard it creaking open, only to come face to face with Paige. They both stared at each other for a moment (Andrei not making any move to cover himself) before Paige turned red and slammed the door shut again. ‘Well then,’ he said, soap still in hand, ‘That escalated quickly…’ he cleared his throat. Andrei couldn’t help but start to chuckle as the other prefect’s apologies started to turn into curses. Apparently it was his own fault for not locking the shower door, ‘Sorry babe, not really used to people sexually harassing me,’ Andrei shook off the moment of awkwardness (for Paige) and continued washing the suds.
‘Don’t lie, you’re not scarred. Perveeeeert~’, he couldn’t help but tease Paige in a sing-songy voice. Turning the shower off, he stepped out of the wet area and wrapped a towel around his waist, then as a second thought took it off and wrapped it around his head then opened the door. The second he stepped out of the shower he couldn’t help but wrap his arms around Paige in an (once again awkward for Paige) embrace. ‘My love, couldn’t keep away from me could you?’ the water began to create wet patches on the other boy’s clothing, so Andrei stepped away. Well, at least now he didn’t need another towel.
‘Gifted classes?’ Andrei asked quizzically, ‘I have noooo idea what you’re talking about. Don’t deny that you just came because you want to be with me.’ He smiled in a taunting manner, then stepped back into the shower stall and began to pull his boxers on. The tone of Paige’s voice was like reading an open book; jealousy, discontent, maybe some other things mixed up in there as well. Why he would be feeling those was beyond Atlas’s understanding, being gifted was anything but a gift. He would tell the human to enjoy being… human, but that would ruin the ‘mood’ that the kid had stumbled upon.

The moment He felt Andrei’s arms wrap around him, Paige stiffened like a statue. The embrace didn’t help to lessen the glow on his cheeks. He felt the warm water begin to soak into his clothing and he rolled his eyes. “Gee thanks I really appreciate the affection…”
The other boy let go of him; Paige kept his eyes fixed on the wall, away from Andrei until the other boy disappeared back into the shower stall. His eye had twitched slightly as Andrei answered of having no idea of what he was talking about. “Believe me, Andrei, being with you is probably the last thing I would like to do today, really…” He pulled himself off from the surface behind him and began walking towards the exit, arms crossed in an annoyed fashion, “And if you’re trying to tell me that you texted me to meet you here for no apparent reason whatsoever then, well… thanks a freaking lot. I’m Tired, Andrei, and I would appreciate it if I could just go back to the dorms and sleep, not stay here to be annoyed by you…”
He grabbed the edge of the entryway and turned back to look at the stall Andrei was in, “And if you don’t have an actual reason to have called me here then I'm leaving.” And with that he grabbed his shoes and began walking away from the showers.
