His aloof, distant appearance is often misinterpreted as malice and menace. Many are intimidated by this quiet and reserved boy, and many call him a 'delinquent' despite his clean criminal record. However, he by no means one. For example, he tends to avoid trouble and attempts to resolve things peacefully. And, in his free time, he has more domestic hobbies like baking, knitting, and gardening. Not exactly the profile of a delinquent, huh? But, he does fit the mold in some ways. Unsociable by nature, Ethan prefers spending time alone than with a group of friends - it's not like he had many to begin with anyway. As a cynic, he has a rather negative view on humans, finding them to be nothing but self-centered, selfish beings that spout hypocritical nonsense about 'friendship' and 'love'. The sixteen year old believes that, at heart, every single person on this earth has only one top priority: himself/herself. As a result, Ethan is rather detached and indifferent to others. He tends to be rather blunt with people, which is often the reasons for his trouble. He feels no emotion towards anyone aside from his father. Even then, Ethan feels compelled to care for his father solely because he feels as if it's his duty; since his father raised him, Ethan feels indebted to somehow pay it back. Other than that, the boy feels as if there's no value in frivolous emotions like 'love'. On the subject of 'love', the brunette feels as if there's no need for it. However, this doesn't mean that he's asexual. He's simply aromantic, meaning he doesn't want to pursue a relationship at all. Ethan often finds himself perplexed by emotions and has difficulty in understanding them. He's horrible with comfort and expressing his emotions, making him the worst candidate for a boyfriend. However, there are some good aspects about him. Patient and loyal, he can be depended on and is always true to his word. If he says he's going to do something, then he'll do it. He's organized, punctual, and serious about his work; the boy seldom takes things lightly, so he's ideal for long-term relationships. He's confident - although it may be to the point of arrogance - and won't hesitate to speak the truth. Then again, he also tends to be rather insensitive about things as well. Well, perhaps Ethan's simply not cut out for being romantically involved with someone. Scratch that, he's not cut out to be involved with people at all. HISTORY: Ethan Marcel Fabre was born to Vivienne and Abel Fabre on May 3rd, 1997 in Avignon, France. Although not the wealthiest of people, the Fabre family were happy with their humble lifestyle. Ethan's father worked in a factory while the boy's mother was a homemaker, staying home to care for her son. Although he loved them both the same, Ethan preferred his mother's company more, since he saw very little of his father, who worked overtime in the factory and eventually held a second job. As one may have guessed, time spent with his mother was precious. For as long as he could remember, the two of them would spend their days emerged in various activities like crafting, baking, and gardening; this was when the French boy first began to pick up on his hobbies. From the joy of creating colorful paintings on paper to gazing in amazement at the metamorphosis of a butterfly out in the garden, Ethan's early years was filled with wonder. However, that would soon change when the boy was forced to attend school at the age of five; the school was an elite school, one of the best in the nation, and his mother was able to pull strings and get a scholarship for Ethan. Although he was initially anxious - he even went as far as to hide in a cabinet on his first day to school - his mother soothed his fears and managed to lift his spirits. She told him that there was nothing to worry about, that there would be others like him there, too. Though he hesitantly accepted her words, he came to class that day with bright eyes and an ear to ear grin. The first few days of school went well - he was even able to make a few new friends - but things would soon change for the worst. When he invited a friend of his over, his friend's mother had come along, too. The woman, a socialite with a stern gaze, took a quick inspection of the Fabre residence and soon shook her head at the shabby, dingy house and unkempt lawn, a disgusted expression crossing her features as she confronted Ethan's mother. The two adult women went to another room to discuss something, leaving the two young children to play in the front yard until the friend had to go. The next day, Ethan was met with ridicule from his peers who said that he was 'dirty'. They continued to alienate and ridicule him, despite their teacher's intervention. When the teacher called the parents of the students, the teacher was shocked to find that the parents felt the same. Although they weren't as harsh and direct as their children, the parents were disturbed and concerned that such a poor child was in the same class as their own. They worried that Ethan would be a 'danger' to their children and protested that he be expelled from the school. Of course, the principal could not, and Ethan continued to attend the school and endure the bullying. The boy considered quitting the school all together, but his mother's encouragement kept him going. When his mother suddenly died of a heart attack later that year, Ethan was distraught and crushed. However, he kept his resolve and continued to attend school after his mother's death, for he knew that was what she would have wanted. But, without anyone to turn to, the frustration and anger built up inside of him slowly, eating away at him. When his father remarried five years later, the boy felt as if it was the ultimate betrayal; how could he do this to his late wife, who was so faithful and loving to him? Resentment began to grow within Ethan's heart. Despite his new stepmother's friendly attempts to get along with her new step-son, Ethan gave not only her, but also his father a cold shoulder. He soon distanced himself away from his family as well. Around this time, he had been in the process of transferring into high school; he had just turned fourteen a few months ago. The bullying still continued, but the teen was now indifferent to their taunting and viewed them as nothing more than immature brats. But, when one of the tormentors began to call his mother several derogatory slurs, anger began to seep inside the brunette. He unsuccessfully attempted to ignore it, but when the tormentor spat that 'she's better off dead', that was the last straw. In his blind fury, he was able to unknowingly manifest his elemental power of earth. Tree roots and other vegetation began to shoot up and grow rapidly, snaking their way towards the group of tormentors, wrapping around their necks to strangle them. Had it not been for a nearby teacher's quick thinking, the group of boys would have died quickly. Tackling Ethan to the ground, the teacher was able to disorient the boy, causing the tree roots to retract. The school called the boy's father, informing him of the event. The father, bewildered, thought of it as nothing more than a practical joke until the director's stern expression made him realize the truth. The director suggested that Ethan should be sent to Nakaumi Academy for proper education and mastery over his powers, and the boy's father complied. Within a few weeks, Ethan was shipped off to Nakaumi Academy. POWER Earth Manipulation: Ethan can manipulate plants as well as non-living substances like dirt, gravel, boulders... That sort of thing. •Pros: Earth manipulation can easily be used for offensive and defensive (shields) fighting as well as for agricultural uses as well. •Cons: Earth manipulation requires a lot of time and energy to master. The amount of experience Ethan has equates with how much earth he can manipulate, and it may take an entire life time for him to be able to fully control his power. Emotions, too, play a large role in successfully mastering this power; the more forceful and determined he is, the more easily he can manipulate earth. However, this can backfire, too. If he loses control of himself, he can hurt himself and all those around him. But, since he lacks the motivation to practice this ability and has little experience, all he can do right now is sprout seeds and lift pebbles. Another con is that his plants can easily be burned by fire and his rock can be cracked by ice (through water manipulation), and both can be cut down by swift attacks by air. LIKES & DISLIKES ✓Fireworks. Something about these bright spectacles are entrancing to him. ✓Sports. It relieves stress AND good for his health! ✓Children. Just because they're adorable. He's actually thinking about becoming a teacher in the future! ✓Horror/Mystery. Nothing better than a good mystery to engage his mind or horror to scare his pants off. ✓Auto Shop/Metal Shop/Wood Shop. Because building stuff is fun. ✘Vegetables. He never outgrew that phase. ✘People. They're damn selfish, that's why. ✘Animals. They frighten him so, especially large ones (although he's never admit it). ✘Romance/Drama. Pfft, what's so special about them? ✘Ballet. His mother used to make him wear tutus when he was little. He never quite got over it. ACADEMIC + SPORTING Ethan's a bright student and excels in academics and dedicates most of his time studying if he's not wrapped up in baking or building gadgets. Academically, his best subjects are Math and Science, since it's straightforward and to the point. His weakest subjects, on the other hand, are English and Reading. Although he doesn't do too bad in those subjects, he still struggles with English and Reading quite a bit. English is particularly difficult since his native language is French. Aside from academics, Ethan enjoys building things with his hands, so he had been in auto shop and wood shop in the past. He's not the most gifted artistically, and whether it be choir, theater, or regular old art, he just plain sucks at it. He has an interest in pursuing a career in bioengineering later on, so he reads a lot of math and science textbooks in his spare time. He's also very active and plays sports like swimming and track, but stays away from any sport involving hand-eye coordination since he has relatively poor eyesight. As mentioned beforehand, he also cooks and bakes as well. And, of course, he gardens and knits like his mother. He enjoys doing housework since it reminds him of when he'd watch his mother work around the house as a child. To summarize, he's good at Math and Science, okay with History, and does pretty poorly (according to his standards) in English and Reading; however, he can speak English fluently, but just doesn't quite understand English spelling and grammar - he gets easily confused with English and French. He's interested in home economics and is horrible at the Arts; he lacks creativity. He likes gardening and other nature related activities and expresses an interest in bioengineering. Since he likes to build things, he would like to take Auto Shop and Wood Shop. He likes sports, but has horrible vision, so he sticks with sports like wrestling, track and field, cross country, and swimming. Also, since he doesn't like animals and has a fear of them (says they're ridden with parasites and disease), he detests horseback riding and any classes that have to do with animals (but, if you want to be sadistic, stick him in Equestrian Studies or something). He's very serious about his school work, so he makes good grades in his core classes, though he struggles a bit with English and Reading. And, most of all, he detests dancing of all kinds, especially ballet (so, again, stick him in a dance class if you feel like torturing the poor guy, I don't mind.xD). So, basically: Good at: Math and Science. Okay at: History. Bad at: English and Reading. Likes: Auto Shop/Wood Shop, Bioengineering, Sports, Gardening, Agriculture, and Home Economics. Hates: The Arts and Dancing. SECRET WORDS: I'd be nothing without you. application was passed by ATLAS | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=valign,top][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 40px;] e t h a n |
