He’ll often walk into classes and Roleplay as some famous person from history, even going as far as dressing up as them. He isn’t afraid to approach people, or speak his mind, and he doesn’t particularly care if people judge him for that. Even when it comes to non-school related situations, you can tell that Nolan isn’t afraid to be himself, he’ll wear clothing that most people would cringe at the thought of. Gay – Everything about him just screams ‘I’m gay’, from the way he speaks, to his body language, to his clothing, his personality. He’s here, he’s queer, get over it seems to be Nolan’s life motto. It isn’t that hard to tell, which is something the Nakaumi students often seem to gossip about. Most straight guys seem to hate him; their girlfriends falling in love with a gay guy isn’t always the nicest thing. It’s not Nolan’s fault that he’s such a fashionista and a great cook. Childish – Even though he’s technically an adult, he’s probably more childish than even the youngest Nakaumi kids. This is probably how he engages his students to actually pay attention in classes. He has the type of over-excited nature that you’d expect from a child receiving ice cream. And the words… he never shuts up, that’s the only way to put it. Health Nut – Everything he puts in his body has to be organic and preservative free or he’d probably feint. Most of his meals look like something a giraffe or koala bear would eat, which is disgusting for most other people to see. Being a dancer, he’s probably a little bit too obsessed about his weight and looks, but he’s the only one that doesn’t seem to notice it. He’s also a vegetarian and cringes at the thought of somebody consuming meat products. Dancer – If you have a watchful eye, you could probably tell that Nolan is a dancer. When he walks he almost seems to bounce from place to place on his tippy toes, or sometimes even glide. Dancing is his life, particularly ballet and contemporary dance, this is the main subject that he teaches at Nakaumi. You can tell from his toned legs that he’s spent hours on end building up his strength, and his upper body strength is just as equal. Unpredictable – He likes to keep his classes… and his social life guessing; what’s that students? You’re tired? Well I’ll turn the lights off and let you go to sleep. What’s that class? You’re bored? Let’s take a last-minute field trip into town and start LARPing as your favourite TV show character. HISTORY: Of course; behind every great actor is a sob story. Nolan’s mother died when he was four years old, which his father took hard; distancing himself from his son. With Nolan, his story started from a very young age. Whenever every other toddler wanted to play with trucks and matchbox cars, his play sessions began with Barbie dolls and fairy dresses. Of course his father saw this as kind of just a stage; I mean, he couldn’t be the only kid who did this. Of course the ‘he’ll grow out of it phase’ never happened. As he got older, Nolan discovered that wearing pink to class was going to get him bashed up, and even if he tried to blend up he’d just get bashed up because of the way he walked, or talked. By the time he hit high school, he’d learned that no matter what he did, people weren’t going to like it. So he threw away the idea of hiding, and became more open. He joined the drama and dance club, got the star roll in the school production, and joined the cheerleading team. At everything he aimed to do, he did well in; but one particular trait stood out. His ability to dance, which his teachers commended he would one day become famous because of it. By the time he was 15, Nolan came out to his father, and being a butch country man, this didn’t end well. His father simply replied with ‘I’m disappointed with you’ and the second Nolan was 16, he was kicked out onto the street and his father refused to acknowledge any relation between them. Nolan wasn’t easily disheartened, he had nothing but the clothes on his back and the shoes on his feet, but he was determined to keep trying. So what did he do? Try out for the most prestigious dance academy in the country; and he got into it. For years he’d woken up at 5 in the morning, stretching his body to the limits and training to become more athletic, able to reach limits in dancing that nobody had ever seen before. Then this training would continue throughout the day, and sometimes into the night, but it all paid off. When the velvet curtains opened and the show started, everyone could see that he was one of the best dancers in the world. He was invited to perform on TV shows, not only to dance, but to act; for the most part he accepted. For years he was applauded by the media and other stars, but there comes a time in everyone’s life where they have to step out of the limelight. Nolan loved dancing, but being famous? That was something entirely different all together, he’d saved enough money for him to have a lavished young retirement; but he didn’t want to settle down just then. That was when he found out about Nakaumi Academy; the newly opened school was looking for teachers. Of course coming from humble beginnings, Nolan couldn’t help but want to raise the next generation of young dancers and performers. Not long after he moved closer to the place where he hoped to be hired; his father contacted him, begging for forgiveness (and money), in which Nolan politely declined the offer to reunite.
