The traumatic experiences of the last year have turned her into a rather cynical, paranoid, sharp tonged, stubborn, and judgmental person. This wasn't helped by the fact that she hears all the petty thoughts complaints and internal self-absorption of everyone around her almost every waking moment. While she has become somewhat used to it it's still a little disheartening and misanthropic by this. Yet she still has a almost hopelessly naïve and outgoing side of her that one day she will meet someone who in the end is not a self-absorbed or as petty and selfish as everyone else she has ever met. So far she has been disappointed. She is also rather secretive. Alex does not like talking about her past yet at the same time hate lying to people. So when asked directly she will either dodge the question or obfuscate and change the subject and only actually lie as a last resort. She is also every self-conscious about her the way she looks. Like it or not she has the mind of boy and is trapped a girl’s body, a girl’s body that isn't' even human. Every morning she flinches at the sight of herself in the mirror, all day long she feels uncomfortable and off in the cloths she wears, she refuses to look to get dressed unless her eyes are clothes or the lights are off and will, and has picked fight with guys she thought were checking her out. She also suffers a case of PTSD from her time in captivity and as much as she would desire to be left alone to herself those are the times all the memories of the experience come back and send her into an almost paralyzing panic HISTORY: The girl now known as Lexa was born as Alexander Monroe, called Alex by them, to Debora and Simon Monroe. His father ran one of the world’s leading biotechnology research companies that was originally founded by his father, famed geneticist Oliver Monroe. As a result of this Alex’s family was filthy stinking rich and was rarely at a want for anything in his life growing up. His parents loved him, he was always provided for he went to the best schools and had good friend. From a young age it was apparent that his father was grooming him to succeed him at the company like his father did to him. Not that Alex minded of course, he loved science and he was fascinated by the family business so form a young age he hoped to be a part of it. Of course a monkey wrench was thrown into Alex's life plans in the shape of a disgruntled scientist named Elihm Ariot. Doctor Ariot brilliant geneticist who thought he had the theories about human potential and evolution would change humanity but every time he tried to bring this to his bosses' (Simone Monroe) attention he was rebuffed him. This chaffed at a Ariot who thought that petty little things like one man’s morality and ethics should not stand in the way of his discovery's. When he issued a final ultimate Simon balked at him and fired him, Ariot did not take it well. Vowing revenge and vindication the angry scientist was escorted from the building everyone thinking this was just impotent ravings of a man instead of deadly serious promises. They were proven wrong when after several years of planning Doctor Ariot kidnapped Alex and whisked him away to an abandoned warehouse he had converted into a prison/laboratory. He held Alex there for weeks upon weeks in a small dark cell, stripped down to nothing but a medical gown and taking him out only for medical scans and forcing several injections and medications, (he drugged Alex's food to keep him mostly pliable). It seemed these medical regiments (actually a complex course of gene therapy Dr. Ariot designed) was doing nothing until one night when Ariot brough Alex a tray of food, he moved it without even touching it. Seeing this tiny spark of vindication after so many years ridicule this sent him into a frenzy of excitement. Night and day almost tirelessly he tested Alex's powers, forcing him to push his powers to the limit honing them in the process and making them stronger in the process but Alex was getting more and more exhausted in the process. Ariot was also becoming less than thrilled with Alex's limitations and decided to use a retrovirus that he believed would boost Alex's psychic abilities and bolster his physical resolve. Initially he had been reluctant to use the retrovirus because in the intervening year between his termination and the kidnapping Ariot had tested it on several homeless people. The retrovirus would react poorly on a chromosomal level with the poor unfortunate souls and turn them into hermaphroditic monsters before it killed them. Yet with every one of these deaths he refined the virus and he believed this time he had learned from all the past mistakes and thanks to Alex's already working psychic powers things would be different. And if it didn't then all the more better he would have his revenge and heaps more valuable data. So he injected him one day with the retrovirus and within a few hours Alex had slipped into a unconciousness. He would spend the next two weeks in a stable coma, Ariot watching with bile fascination all the changes going on. Alex would only find out when after the two weeks he came out of the coma on his sixteenth birthday and was shocked to discover, he was no longer a guy but now a girl, with all the parts and equipment implied there in. He... now she did not take this well. Alex raged against telekinetic ripping the straps holding her to the gurney she had spent the last two weeks and door the door to the room he was in off it's hinges and fled. She managed to get outside the warehouse, seeing the sun for the first time in months but was stopped by a rather large fence with a razor wire top. She still tried to climb it and was only stopped when halfway up she Ariot injected her with a tranquilizer and she collapsed back into a heap. She woke up later back in her cell... and immediately tried to escape again. In fact from this point on she refused to cooperate in anyway with Ariot's experiments and tests. If he took her to be examined she would try and escape, even after shackling her feet. He stripped her naked and turned up the cooling system, she would just stoically sit in the corner and shiver. He started with holding food from her, she refused to budge, going so far as eat the bugs that crawled on the walls and even once (much to her later disgust) killed and ate a rat that scurried around her room at night. Ariot was not amused by this, he could not figure out why Alex's will would not break her will. Then he realized what it was. She had hope, hope that she could escape and somehow live a normal life again. In order to make her more pliable he would have to remove that hope. After a few weeks he decided to use a different version of the retrovirus he initially transformed Alex with only this time splice her DNA with animal DNA. He may think she could at least learn to live a normal life as a girl but as some animal freak he doubted she ever would thinking she could ever adjust to that. So one day he walked entered her cell and Alex tried to put up a fight, but weeks of poor diet and freezing meant she could not put up much a proper fight he forcibly injected the new virus inside of her. Unfortunately for her this time the virus did not put her in a coma during the transformation, changes only took ten minute or so, ten minutes of insane excruciating pain as bones cracked limbs changed and grew. She was now essentially a cat/human hybrid style creature, with slitted eyes, a long furry tail and cat like ears on top of her head, sharpened canines and altered muscle structure. It seemed at first this worked. From the moment the transformation began it seemed Alex had entered a catatonic state. She didn't move she did speak she didn't do anything but eat when he finally gave her food and slept when she could. But she did not look at him, she did not say anything or make any noise during the ensuing days and weeks. What he did not realize was that Alex was actually calling for help, with her mind, every-waking minute of the following weeks reaching out with her mind to anyone she could fin and calling for help. Due to the remoteness of the area and her inexperience with doing such a thing it took days to even find a passerby and even then her first attempt to contact them failed. But as weeks went by she contacted more and more people and was eventually able to communicate he rudimentary idea of her location and that she needed help. Of course these random people did not belie the voices they were hearing in the head so it took weeks more of to find someone who actually went to the authorities. The very next day police arrived at the warehouse and were shocked at the discovery of Alex, unfortunately Ariot managed to escape. The reunion with his parents was rather bitter sweet, ten months ago there son had vanished and now they had this psychically powered female feline freak as a kid. While they did their best to cope it was clear Alex would not be able to adjust her environment and with the mad doctor still on the lamb she was not safe with her parents. So the decision was made and after an agonize parting she was sent off to Nakaumi Academy to be in an environment more fitting. POWER Telepathy – Alex's telepathy comes off in two variaties, and active form and a more passive form of telepathy. The passive form is just that, it is a form of her power she has little control over and is always on when she is conscious. Essentially this makes her a receptor of the surface thoughts of those around her. Every idle thought one has, every day dream, everything imagined with ones minds eyes she will hear it just as sure as if they were her own thoughts. While this proves to only be a minor annoyance or quirk that she is capable of managing when there are only a small number of people around. However the more people that are around Alex, the more thoughts she is hearing, the noisier it gets for her, and eventually it becomes impossible for her to function and can become overwhelmed. The more active part of her telepathy is the part she has both the least amount of experience with oddly enough the most control over. That is mainly because it was the only part of her telepathy she actually has to put forth an effort to actually use it. What this is exactly is that Alex that with some concentration Alex is actually capable of probing deeper into a targets mind and read or manipulate someone’s memories. This cannot be done easily or discreetly however. When she is in someone’s mind most people can easily detect her as they will get a headache ranging from mild to severe depending on how deeply she is probing. Alex herself will also feel a headaches and disorientation during and after the probing. Telekinisis - Her telekinesis is pretty strait forward. With a little concentration and focus she is capable of moving objects with her mind. Her control over the object’s movement largely depends on how big it is. This means if it is something small and easy for her to physically handle it is much easier for her than something that normally she wouldn’t be able to handle. For example it would be much easier for her to use a pencil and actually write with it, than it would for her to move a 200lbs linebacker (though she could tie and untie his shoe laces with ease), something that would require considerably more effort to simply lift off the ground or push forwards or backwards. Unless, of course, she is mad or otherwise excited. Either through adrenaline or some other form Alex finds the opposite to be true. Heavy things she can move and manipulate to a greater degree. Though, like before, she still has little finer more precise control in over it. Cat like traits - She has proportionally the physically capabilities of a cat. She is an incredibly fast sprinter, has lightning fast reflexes, decent night vision, an amazing sense of smell (though she cannot track people through scent but that is more a case of inexperience than anything else) can leap higher and jump longer than a normal person could, has supreme agility and balance. This has come with some drawbacks though, besides obviously not being normal anymore and these cat like traits are more than just superficial. Her speech patterns have been changed too and has something of a feline accent, she rolls herRs and stretch out the Ns more than a normal person, especially when nervous for instance. When mad she tends to growl without even thinking about it. LIKES & DISLIKES ✓ Chocolate ✓ Poker (Reading minds makes it child’s play) ✓ Her powers. ✓ Science, (Chemistry and Physics to be exact) ✓ Running ✘ Being a girl ✘ Wearing the school uniform ✘ Crowds ✘ People treating her like a freak ✘ Her powers (It’s a love hate thing) ACADEMIC + SPORTING Understandably, Alex is kind of in a weird place at the moment. While she used to be quite sporty and all about the extracurricular activities right now she is just focusing on adjusting to her new life. That is not to say however that sometime in the future she wouldn’t join any a club or sports group if asked.
