If he isn't talking, he's listening carefully. He adores being around people and learning about them; socializing is more of a hobby for him than anything and he'll go out of his way to meet new people and make new friends. + observant Cae doesn't just like talking to people, but he likes listening just as much. People are interesting to him and he enjoys hearing what others have to say. He picks up on little things quickly, like quirks and interests of the people he converses with. + charismatic He has a knack for making friends. He's confident and sincere when he speaks, not to mention incredibly believable and trustworthy. + empathetic He tries to stay away from sad things because, honestly, he gets too involved in them. He was a rich brat back in his home in Portugal and it's difficult for him to adjust to independent living. - control freak Cae becomes uneasy if he's unsure of the situation. Since he was a child, every situation he's been in has been very controled, either by himself or his mother, and he likes it to be that way. He's capable of being fun and spontaneous, but only on his own accord. If things start moving too quickly and he becomes confused, he can quickly become irritable. He likes knowing more than everyone around him. HISTORY: Caephuier was born a blind baby to the Miraris, a large and loving family, albeit overprotective. At first, his condition wasn't peculiar. It was just an unfortunate situation where something had gone wrong and left a newborn blind. There was nothing they could do about it but make his life as simple as possible given the circumstances, and that's what his family did: for the first years of his life, they hired therapists and tutors for him, ensuring that he learned everything he could in his state. When he was three years old, something amazing started to happen. He began to dream vivid dreams of things he hadn't seen before, and his eyesight slowly began to return to him. By the time he had reached six years old, he was a normally functioning child. It was honestly nothing short of a miracle that nobody could comprehend. His parents attributed it to God while doctors scrambled to understand what had happened. At this point, Cae started to realize the purpose of his dreams when they started to come true in the days after them. As Cae grew older, his abilities seemed to cause a few burdens for him. He would black out at school and miss classes. Sometimes he'd wake up in the middle of the night screaming because of a dream he had, and spend days dreading the event he saw. He began to have a reoccuring dream of drowning and it didn't take him too long to figure out that this dream, too, was prophetic and going to happen eventually. His family did everything they could help, from therapists to doctors, none of which they could tell the real story of what was happening. They would admit him to mental hospitals with complaints of vivid, disturbing nightmares and black outs. It was horrifying to see such a happy little boy turn into a monster at night. Eventually, his parents accepted the fact that there was nothing they could do for him from their little town in Portugal. They had heard rumors of a school for children like Cae, and although it broke their heart to send their little boy countries away for boarding school, they knew it was best for him. POWER • Divination Visions of the future come to Cae in dreams and less commonly in small black outs during the daytime. There's no telling what he'll see, what significance it will have, or when it'll happen. + Pros What he sees can be extremely helpful at times. Even if it's something as small as news of a pop quiz, Cae likes the fact that his abilities allow him to be ahead of everyone else. He uses it as a source of entertainment, too, catching people off guard by predicting the future. His foresight has helped him a lot in life; he's rarely caught off guard and he has also adapted heightened intuition because of it. If something significant is about to happen, he you can bet he'll be able to sense it. - Cons Whoever's in charge of what Cae does and doesn't see of the future, well, they're not always nice about it. Sometimes he sees horrible things: tragedies he can't prevent, things countries away that he has no control over. And dreams where he dies, well, he has those quite a lot, but they're always the same dream. Other times, he may black out for hours only to see what he's going to have for breakfast the next morning. The worst part about his power, he's found, is that there's no way to change what he sees. The future is predetermined, and messing with it won't do anything but cause more things to go awry. LIKES & DISLIKES ✓ Rain The sound of a thunderstorm is calming to Cae. His mind is pretty loud most of the time, so it's nice to have something steady and calming to distract him. ✓ Junk food Given how protective his mother was of him, junk food was something Cae wasn't exposed to until Nakaumi. He eats junk food and sweets at every opportunity he gets. ✓ People Whether he's talking to them or watching them, Cae is always intrigued by the people around him. In fact, he gets depressed if he's not with them. He doesn't need to even be socializing with them; just being in the presence of others makes him feel comfortable. ✘ Crowds Cae is admittedly claustrophobic and cannot stand large groups of people. The fact that he likes people is completely moot in these situations; being crammed into big crowds makes him feel out of control and he's quick to panic when in these situations. ✘ Silence There's something eerie about complete silence. Whether it's something like the background hum of a television or birds singing outside, Cae needs some kind of noise or he gets creeped. ACADEMIC + SPORTING ✘ Math He honestly just really, really hates math. Cae is not a person ruled by logic and this subject fails to make any sense to him. He tries his best in all other academics except for this one; he just can't bring himself to try to understand it. He has come to accept that he will never be decent at math. ✘ Gym Cae is a tall, lean kid who would be excellent in sports had he not grown at such a rapid pace. He's gawky and pretty awkward, still trying to get used to being nearly six feet tall. His coordination isn't all too great and he doesn't appreciate how fast paced a lot of sports can be, so he tends to stay far away from this field. ✓ Art + Art Club He started drawing as soon as he began to gain his sense of sight. And now, at fifteen, he's become pretty good at it. His favorite thing is drawing or sketching the things he sees in his visions days before they happen. It helps him express himself and it's a stress reliever to get out some of those loud thoughts in his head. When he came to Nakaumi, joining the Art Club was among his priorities. ✓ Music As part of therapy when he was younger, his parents had him exposed to a number of instruments and types of music, thinking it good for his development. Cae grew up surrounded by music, and around six, he took up playing the piano. He has a great ear and the ability to play things just by how they sound if he closes his eyes and concentrates on the notes. The piano has always been a personal thing for him; he has never played in groups or even to somebody singing, and he prefers not to. He won't admit himself into any of the music-related clubs, but he still likes to lurk and watch them when he can.
