All she wants is to be a normal human and do normal things… Like go to the beach without having to worry about accidently drowning her friends… that’s never happened of course, but she worries about it all the time. In fact, she worries about everything! Apart from her traumatic case of anxiety, she’s a well-functioning person. She cares deeply for others, and longs to have a group of friends that care for her too. The problem is that many of her peers find her annoying because she talks so much. As much as she tries, she can’t seem to help it. When she’s anxious she starts spewing out words. She’s not a bad person though, and she’s very fun if you take the time to get to know her. Although she is fearful of many things, she’s been known to step out of her comfort zone if it means making a friend smile or having a little fun herself. She just needs a little encouragement HISTORY: Kiku was born and raised in Nagoya, the largest city in the Chūbu region of Japan. There she was surrounded submerged in the rich arts and culture that Nagoya prides itself in. She comes from a well-to-do family, and hopes to become a famous actress one day like Kyoko Kagawa. She’s even started ballet classes in hopes of following in the footsteps of the graceful actress. However, Kiku is pretty horrendous at it, and her parents aren’t too thrilled about her career choice. They’re hoping that it’s just a stage, and since she’s young they feel that she’ll grow out of it and move on to more attainable dreams. Both of her parents are average humans, but people further down in their bloodline have been known to have elemental powers. They had always thought the stories to be a myth, but they started to notice peculiar things once Kiku reached the age of ten. When she was angry it the water pipes would always burst in the house. They thought it was just coincidence until one day a storm cloud formed over their house and started to rain. Over their house! And it didn’t appear to be over one else’s. Even though her power caused more chaos than harmony, her parents didn’t like the fact that Kiku suppressed her gift. They didn’t feel that it was natural or healthy. So they did a little more research and dug into the old stories that they once thought were myths, and found out about Nakaumi Academy. As soon as they were able to get a hold of the school’s contact information, they enrolled her at once… the rest is history.. POWER Kiku has the power to control water, in all of its forms: liquid, solid, or gas. But as a Freshman, she’s still in the process of perfecting it in liquid form, so it will be a while before she moves on to the other elements. Currently, she’s found that her ability is influenced by her emotions, but she can control it with intense concentration, so she needs to be absolutely calm when using it. The biggest con about her power is that things can go terribly wrong at the drop of a hat if she’s not in control of her emotions. She also has to be around water in order to use her elemental power. LIKES & DISLIKES ✓ Hot drinks: tea, hot chocolate, hot water, apple-spiced cider, etc. ✓ All things cute: pandas, romance novels, the color pink, etc. ✓ Acting and dancing ✓ Trying new things ✓ Being outside ✓ Boys! Glorious boys! (the girl’s a little boy crazy) ✘ Spiders and other creepy bugs!!! ✘ Not having friends ✘ Scary movies ✘ Large groups of people ACADEMIC + SPORTING Kiku is not the brightest girl, and she can be easily side-tracked. If she spots something that looks like more fun than what she’s currently doing, she’ll jump on it in a second. However, she is not the partying/drug-taking type. Large groups of people bring out her anxiety, and she’s afraid of what drugs could do to her health. So I guess it’s safe to say that she’s the annoying “goody-two-shoes” type. She doesn’t seem to notice though, and can’t for the life of her understand why no one ever wants to hang out with her. As for sports, Kiku is hoping to make the dance team. Currently, her ballet skills are lacking to say the least, but she hopes that with extreme dedication and hard work she will become the school’s next Prima Ballerina!
